On October 8, 2015 at 7PM, poets Kit Robinson and Aaron Simon celebrate the launch of their two new books of poetry with a reading at Green Arcade Books (1680 Market Street). Hosted by poet Alan Bernheimer, Robinson and Simon will read selections of their new works published by BlazeVOX. This will be the first official reading from the new BlazeVOX titles.
Kit Robinson’s Marine Layer is the acclaimed poet’s latest collection and marks the 23rd book by the Berkeley-based poet. Robinson’s previous book, A Mammal of Style (in collaboration with Ted Greenwald), was named among the best poetry of 2014 by the Chicago Tribune. Marine Layer is “oracular and quotidian, straightforward and complex, offering multiple points of view and stunningly variable textures,” writes Richard Roundy in Across the Margin.
San Francisco-based poet Aaron Simon studied at the New School under the tutelage of Larry Fagin. Simon’s lyrical new book, Rain Check Poems, is described by former Sonic Youth frontman Thurston Moore as “a good band whose record is killing it on the deck” and by Dodie Bellamy as "subtle yet seductive poems." Featuring original cover art by artist Jessica Dessner, Rain Check Poems is available now at BlazeVox.com and at Green Arcade Books. Simon previously released “Senses Himself” (Greenzone Editions), “Periodical Days” and “Carrier.”
