Josh's Brain Improv

SEE EVENT DETAILS
We are delighted to welcome back storyteller Josh Kornbluth to The Psychotherapy Institute for an improvised performance that will help feed development of a fully staged, one-man show about Kornbluth's experiences working with the Global Brain Health Institute.

Early in 2017, Josh Kornbluth (who, as an undergraduate, had flunked out of every science course he took) unexpectedly became a "Fellow" at the Global Brain Health Institute at UCSF to understand the brain, dementia, and how the health of brains impact human lives. He took classes, attended doctor meetings with patients and their caregivers, shadowed nurses on their rounds, and bombarded behavioral neurologists with questions as they tried to get to the restroom. His goal was to absorb all the information he could about brain health and brain science and then transmit it to the masses via storytelling. Since his fellowship happened to begin at the same time as the Trump presidency, Josh worked to incorporate brain-related knowledge into the nascent political resistance. As the nation progressed rapidly through what he perceived to be a kind of political dementia, he raced to come up with a cure, even as he fought the deterioration of his own emotional state.

Proceeds from this event will support TPI's professional training programs and our affordable-fee Community Clinic. Performance tickets are offered at a sliding scale, and guests are invited to register for a special reception with Josh Kornbluth after the performance.

For over 45 years, The Psychotherapy Institute has provided affordable psychotherapy to Bay Area residents as well as continuing education and advanced training to psychotherapists.
