BIG J is a Taiwanese American producer, DJ, musician, and interdisciplinary artist. Born and raised in Baltimore, they were a classically trained cellist for 15 years before transitioning to visual/sound art and eventually honing in their craft of producing dance music. Currently based between New York and Baltimore, Jia frequently plays in both cities as well as across the US and Asia. One of Mixmag's Top Producers of 2024, and with a catalog of releases across well-respected labels that keep the USBs loaded with the goods, they bring a fresh but heavy approach to working the speakers, and we're excited to hear what they do to the main room VOID system. Named one of "The Top 25 Producers Who Defined the Year 2024" by Mixmag, they have a diverse catalog of self releases under both JIALING and BIG J in addition to releases on Clasico Records, Gimme A Break Records, Room Service, and Air Texture. Earlier this year, Jia released their debut album exploring the intersection of eastern and western instruments, playing both the cello and erhu on the project. In 2024, they remixed tracks for 2Lanes, nextdimensional, Honey B, Seimei on Sorry records, Tomu DJ on No Bias, and Om Unit x James Bangura on Local Action. They were a resident of Balamii radio in London from 2022-2024. JIALING co-founded WOE (Baltimore) alongside Kade Young and is a member of Ayi Ayi (NY).
To help carry the weight of all the bass that's coming, we have Nightware (Garage Access) and Alex Edward (MOTF) on support.
While you're here, we'd like to take a moment to introduce you to re:flex - a new event series hosting producers that are making a mark on the club scene. Tasty, juicy, nasty, thicc - however you want to describe that good sound, that's the aim.
Crewdem is joining in on the night to handle the lounge in a serious way. They've got Soba, PJDJ, and PJ Sleeps on deck to make sure both floors are pumping as soon as the doors open.
