Join author Diana Zheng for an evening of cocktails and dinner featuring dishes from her new cookbook, Jia! The Food of Swatow and the Teochew Diaspora.
The book brings Teoswa flavors into American kitchens via (mostly) easy recipes and (sometimes very) detailed explanations of core ingredients and the Teoswa philosophy of cooking and eating. The author visited China & Southeast Asia to learn more about her heritage and its unique cuisine, from extended family members and others in the Teoswa diaspora. When she returned to the US, she adapted, simplified, and tested recipes from her travels to work even without access to a Teoswa wet market. She'll share stories of researching and writing the book over a dinner of Jia! recipes prepared by Teo's chefs .
Copies of Jia! will be available for purchase, along with Gwan-im plates designed by the author for use in the cookbook photos.
