Jamison Roundtable - The Future of Ferries In The Bay Area

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The Bay Area’s “Liquid Highway:” The Future of Ferries,
Please join David Jamison and The City Club of San Francisco for a luncheon and discussion about the future of the ferry system in the Bay Area.
Presenter: Kevin Connolly
Manager, Planning & Development, Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA)
Kevin Connolly is the architect of WETA’s strategic plan to dramatically expand ferry service on San Francisco Bay.  He leads the Agency’s Planning & Construction Group in the development of capital projects, including terminals and maintenance facilities.  A Bay Area transportation expert, he joined WETA in 2013 after working for the Valley Transportation Authority and BART. Kevin resides in Alameda, where he commutes by bike to the ferry and coaches youth basketball.
More and more Bay Area residents and communities are advocating for additional ferry service on San Francisco Bay.  With bridges and freeways clogged and at capacity, ferries offer one of the few short-term options for adding to our transportation infrastructure.  In fact, ferry ridership has flourished, up almost 100 percent in the last five years.  The Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) operates SF Bay Ferry service from Alameda, Oakland, Vallejo and South San Francisco to the Ferry Building, with ambitious plans for expanding service, terminals, and purchasing new vessels over the next few years.  Come hear about the rapid rise in ridership, major projects under construction and a look toward a future where potential new funding can expand ferry service throughout San Francisco Bay.
LUNCHEON WILL BE SERVED.
