Jamaican Jerk Cook Off sponsored by Drake's Dealership A Benefit for My Yute Soccer
Monday, May 30, 2016 ~1pm – 5pm Jerk Masters Compete
Early Bird Special Now Until May 23
$50 = Entry + Unlimited Jerk + Unlimited Drink Tastings
This event is Family Friendly, Kids U12 Free.

Drake's Dealership is host and sponsor for the 7th annual Jamaican Jerk Cook Off on Monday May 30, from 1pm to 5pm to raise funds for My Yute Soccer. The money raised will allow My Yute Soccer to continue on their mission to provide free soccer camps, educate youth in soccer, and promote awareness of socio-cultural differences for the general public.
The Jamaican Jerk Cook Off will feature a People's Choice Award. Eight teams will square off with their unique version of jerk to impress attendees and choose their favorite. Featured chefs volunteer their time and include Drake's Dealership, Chop Bar, The Dock at Linden Street, Jimmie's Jerk, La Marcha, and the 2015 People's Choice Winner, s+s gastro grub.
Entertainment includes live music and a live Sepak Takraw tournament. Master of ceremonies, Greg Bridges of KCSM, will encourage attendees to enjoy steel pan music and watch an awesome feat of athleticism in a combination of soccer, volleyball, acrobatics, and martial arts delivered by members of the Men's USA National Sepak Takraw team. Kids zone will offer opportunities to play the beautiful game with MYS coaches and Teen Mentors.

People's Barber Shop will offer services and 10% of proceeds to My Yute Soccer.

Founder and Camp Director, Rovel Stephen Sparkes, born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, has been a devout soccer player since childhood playing in every city he’s ever lived from Kingston to NYC to Oakland. For Sparkes, soccer is a language used for communication anywhere in the world and represents the source of many friendships and exposure to different cultures. It has also been an invaluable resource for connecting with the diversity and complexity of the Bay Area. "When you look at the most elite teams, you’ll see an incredible representation of the world’s love for football [name for soccer abroad]." It is his hope that football will continue to be embraced and loved for its beauty and ability to bring together the international community.
