Piemonte (Piedmont) is a mountainous region of Italy that shares borders with France and Switzerland. Its capital is Turin (Torino), the headquarters of Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo. But beyond the car factories, Piedmont is also notable for its cuisine that combines the richness of the Italian tradition with influences from nearby France. Highlights include their truffles, great wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco, and various sweets and deserts, Vermouth and the hazelnut-chocolate confection we know as Nutella.
Join chef Maria Capdevielle to discover the flavors of the region in this hands-on cooking class. Class is limited to 12 people. All levels are welcome:
- Homemade herbed grissini (bread sticks) served with prosciutto and regional cheeses
- Risotto with porcini mushroom and truffles
- Brassato al Barolo (braised meat in barolo wine)
- Torta di nocciola (hazelnut cake)
