IPA Through the Years

SEE EVENT DETAILS
You can’t go to a craft brewery today without being inundated with a veritable plethora of IPA on the tap board. From variable strength - Session, Regular, Double, Triple – to a wide range of “styles” within the style – West Coast, New England/Hazy/Juicy, Brut, Belgian, White, Red, Black, and on and on – but how did we get to this point? Why has “IPA” become the de facto style that many people most-associate with craft beer?
Join us as we dive into these questions and more on our journey of “IPA Through the Years” where we’ll explore the evolution of the style from the beginnings of the craft beer movement of the late 1970s/early 1980s through Today.
Your ticket includes a 90-minute tasting led by our Head Brewer, Kevin Inglin, and Nationally-ranked Beer Judge Evan Rusackas, as they walk you through the history and changes of the style over the years. We’ll start our discussion with the branching out of American IPA from its English IPA roots and you’ll get to taste and compare examples through the decades - we’ve created period-specific beers to represent the way IPA was brewed in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and Today - and we'll end with a look into the future of what may be on the horizon for this ever-evolving style.
You’ll be able to understand firsthand and enjoy how the style has changed – from the caramel malt and citrus-hop focused beers of the 80s through the fruit-forward and lower bitter offerings of today. You’ll receive seven taster samples and end the session with your choice of one full pour of the IPA of your choosing.
$35
