Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation Series

SEE EVENT DETAILS
In these four classes, you'll learn numerous evidence based mindfulness practices to help reduce stress and anxiety, increase empathy and compassion, bolster focus and concentration and connect with your deepest sense of self. *We'll explore mindfulness practices ranging from seated meditation to day to day exercises you can do in your busy life. We'll also help you understand the neuroscience behind mindfulness and the numerous benefits for your body and mind. You'll leave these 4 sessions with a strong foundation to launch your own mindfulness practice (which includes much more than just seated meditation). *Each class will include guided instruction and plenty of time for Q&A and the end. Each class will be 60 minutes in length.*Dan Petrie has been practicing mindfulness and meditation for 10+ years. He specializes in teaching others how to spend more time being present through meditation and mindfulness exercises, which provides the opportunity to get more enjoyment out of each day, while simultaneously increasing overall mental and physical well being. He focuses mainly on evidence based exercises backed by clinical research. His current classes are Stress Rx and Rise & Shine described here. *In 2017 Dan became a Trained Mindfulness Facilitator through UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center. In addition to his secular mindfulness training, he has studied extensively in the Vipassana and Zen traditions under world-renowned teachers including Howard Cohn of Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Charles Tenshin Fletcher Roshi, and David Jokai Blackwell Sensei of Yokoji Zen Mountain Center. Dan's studies also include long term meditation retreats at Yokoji Zen Mountain Center, Tassajara Zen Mountain Center and Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Most recently, Dan joined the board of directors of Howard Cohn’s Mission Dharma as Vice-President.
