Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have been around for military purposes for years. These used to be the most sophisticated drones available. However, a new generation of drones are arising on the horizon. They are civilian in nature and autonomous. But, exactly, what can these flying machines accomplish with the newly outfitted intelligence? This month's speaker series will shed light on the difference of self-flying vs. autonomous and the readiness of today's technologies.SPEAKERSAlexander Harmsen, CEO & Founder, Iris AutomationAs one of the first software programmers at Matternet (medical drone package delivery) and a computer vision engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, Alexander has dived deep into the topics of drones, autonomous machines, and their real-life applications. He's also being involved in different unmanned aircraft systems competitions and in between has 'escaped' the Western life to live in New Delhi, India. His company, Iris Automation, creates AI-based collision avoidance systems for industrial drones. A graduate from Y Combinator, the startup brings together aerospace expertise from NASA, Boeing, and PhDs in computer vision.Vitaliy Goncharuk, CEO & Founder, Augmented PixelsSerial entrepreneur with practical background in applied math, software engineering, and business administration. He's founded and invested in companies in the augmented/virtual reality space, edTech, and security space. Most recently, his interests have gravitated towards high-tech areas including computer vision, machine learning, and neuroscience. Vitaily is an alumni of The Aspen Institute and the Association of Schools of Political Studies.Augmented Pixels has proprietary simultaneous localization and mapping technology (SLAM SDK) optimized for low CPU usage. The company develops autonomous navigation for drones and robots in GPS denied environments. Their products provide sub-millimeter accuracy, low latency, and robust global localization.AGENDA5:45 PM - Doors open!6:30 PM - Founder Speaker Series7:40 - 8:30 PM - Hang out, eat, chat!8:45 PM - EndSeating is limited so RSVP today! We're also looking for volunteers and sponsors!
