Immersive Meetup: Annie Lesser

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join Epic Immersive and The Landry in welcoming Annie Lesser of The ABC Project to the Bay for a free meetup and talk! Annie is one of our favorite auteurs from the Los Angeles scene, famed for her emotionally intimate, darkly funny writing and her multi-genre, site-specific work as part of The ABC Project. Her 10-minute piece A(partment 8) still ranks as one of the most harrowing, unforgettable experiences we've ever witnessed.
Now, Annie is town to debut a new experience that she has created for Epic Immersive's Underland. Baby/Mine takes a deeply personal and challenging look at her relationship with her own mother. Join us this Mother's Day weekend for what promises to be a profoundly moving, evocative, and intimate immersive experience for an audience of one.
While she's in town, Annie will be stopping by The Laundry for a mattinee meetup, where she'll speak about her experiences creating and producing The ABC Project! Join the San Francisco immersive community at this FREE meetup to meet Annie and grab some midday drinks and coffee for a little mixing and mingling.
We'll see you this Saturday!

Praise for Annie Lesser:
"Courageous actors and Lesser’s fertile invention and exacting eye made each show an exhilarating and profoundly unsettling journey into the poetics of extreme intimacy." -LA Weekly Best of Theater 2016-
"In the few years since she landed in Los Angeles, experimental playwright-director Annie Lesser has firmly established herself as one of the most fearless and adventurous forces in the city's emerging immersive scene." -Stage Raw, 2016-
Getting to Know You "An inspired combination of speed dating and relationship time travel." -KCRW 2015-
A(partment 8) "This could be one of the most intimate, visceral experiences ever created... It is a transformation. You walk in one person and walk out another." -Gia On The Move 2016-
B(arbershop) "What continues to be exciting is seeing Lesser fearlessly experiment without the firewall of the physical and figurative distance between spectator and performer that mediates the traditional drama." -Haunting 2016-
The Chalet an adaptation of A(partment 8) "It’s an incredibly special experience, one that will stay with you and maybe even change you a little."-Birth.Movies.Death. 2017-
C(ovell) "Its carefully orchestrated illogic is one of the show’s genuine pleasures. Lesser’s playful, semi-nonsensical lyricism and emotionally wounded comic caricatures evoke the double-edged paradoxes and existential absurdities most associated with Lewis Carroll,"-LA Weekly
D(istillery) "While D(istillery) hews to a more traditional theatrical role of audience as listeners, the signal has rarely come through with such clarity and resonance. All thanks to Lesser’s impeccable immersive instincts"-No Proscenium
E(levator), Students, and Friends "Annie Lesser is the Quentin Tarantino of Immersive Theater." -My Haunt Life 2017-
Infinitely Dinner Society Midnight Snacks "[a] bizarre and unique experience...the feeling of experiencing “Midnight Snacks,” [is] one of nervousness and excitement because of the unknown." -LA Weekly 2017-
Infinitely Dinner Society @ The Overlook "...Lesser conveyed the coldness of dimensions beyond." -Bloody Disgusting 2018-
Death and Coffee "... beautifully cathartic..." -See It or Skip it 2018-
The Unknown "It reveals itself as something that’s less about scaring you and more as a meditation on what’s behind those fears...That thoughtful approach is what gives The Unknown a little heft and makes it an interesting spin on a Halloween haunt. But hey, it’s a fun one of those too."
F(ord Focus) "...unlike any theatre experience you've ever had" -Thrillist 2019 -
