iAgriculture = Agriculture Education and Career Exploration
August 4-8, 2014
Come learn about Agriculture in the Salinas Valley,
and the diverse career opportunities in ag!
You will visit local businesses to learn about what they do, what careers exist in their fields, and what academic preparation one needs to find employment in that field. You will also find out which classes at Hartnell College will best prepare you for jobs with companies such as these.
Field trips will give you a look into a wide array of industries, including flower production, vegetable transplants, laboratories, packaging, processing and handling, trucking and transportation, fabrication, and marketing. There will also be many hands-on activities and group projects. The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, during the week of August 4th.
This one-week event will be followed by a series of monthly half-day events during the Fall semester, so you can continue to increase your knowledge of agriculture, meet more professionals in the field, and learn how to forge your own careers in your areas of interest.
