FIVE CONSECUTIVE MONDAY NIGHTS BEGINNING OCTOBER 2
FOR FIVE CONSECUTIVE DARK AND DANGEROUS THRILL-CRAZED MONDAY NIGHTS in October, beginning October 2 (running through October 30), the palatial CASTRO THEATRE in San Francisco will once again play host to one of the Bay Area’s most perennially popular locally grown film festivals: I WAKE UP DREAMING!
These film noir cavalcades originated at the Roxie back in the early 1990s under the programming guidance of Elliot Lavine and immediately became one of the City’s most hotly anticipated film events of the year before making the move to the Castro in 2015. This year Lavine has moved up to the great Pacific Northwest, but has happily agreed to stage his first annual I WAKE UP DREAMING reunion festival at the Castro!
And what an astonishing line-up he has cooked up for lovers of the strangely alluring exotica that has come to be known as film noir. ELEVEN ELECTRIFYING films to dazzle and delight even the most jaded devotee of this devilishly dark style of entertainment. Eight of these incredible films (some unbelievably rare and making their first appearance at the Castro in the context of a film noir festival) will be shown in pristine 35mm STUDIO ARCHIVE PRINTS!
The ELEVEN amazing films in this year’s festival showcase the versatile nature of the noir style alongside idiosyncratic classics. Truly a festival for the ages!
