How Trademark, Copyrights and Proposition 65 Affect Your Business

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us to discuss the importance of proactively securing trademarks and copyrights for your business, learn all about Proposition 65, and get all your questions answered!
Many companies, especially new ones, find themselves reacting only after discovering that another business was first to use their trademark, or after finding out that the photographer they hired actually owns the photos' copyright. Ms. Kearns discusses how to get on top of protecting a business’s most important assets – intellectual property.
Ms. Kearns will also give an overview on California’s Proposition 65. That law requires businesses selling products in California to warn consumers if their products contain a certain amount of any of 900 listed chemicals. Many businesses are simply unaware of this law, or mistakenly believe they are exempt, and find themselves on the other side of an expensive lawsuit. Ms. Kearns discusses what businesses need to know about this law.

We will cover key considerations including:
•    What trademarks and copyrights protect•    Trademarks versus copyrights•    Trademark and copyrights clearance, registration and enforcement•    Copyright ownership and works made for hire•    DMCA take down notices•    Proposition 65 requirements, compliance and exemptions•    Proposition 65 product audit
