Holidays! Catch the Spirit!

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Kick off the season on Wednesday, November 13, noon-4pm at the Los Altos History Museum.

Los Altos, CA – It’s that time of year when the Los Altos History Museum invites the community to its popular holiday event “Catch the Spirit” on Wednesday, November 13, from noon to 4pm. Enjoy refreshments, live music, a decked-out J. Gilbert Smith House, shopping at two Museum stores and displays by local collectors. Admission is free.

“We wanted new delights this year,” says Pinky Whelan, one of the event coordinators. “We’re exhibiting original Santa paintings from the collection of Los Altos artist Emily Hollinger in the upstairs gallery in the Smith House.” The annual Christmas tree will be decorated with Beanie Babies from collector Gayle Carter who works at the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce. “A friend who was collecting them said they would be of value one day. I took one look at funny looking pelican and adorable hedgehog and I was in love with them! Crazy but fun.” Both collectors will be at the event to chat with guests.

Los Altos author Robin Chapman will visit and sign her fast-selling book, California Apricots: The Lost Orchards of Silicon Valley, now in its 3rd printing and top 100 in its class on Amazon.com. “My story starts and ends here in Mr. Smith’s apricot orchard,” she says. “I’m delighted to attend, and expect there will be at least a few apricot delights on offer.”

Schola Cantorum returns to fill the air with music from 1-2pm, and on view in the main gallery at the History Museum will be the new exhibit of local art, Los Altos – Moving Art Forward. Admission is free; come, be our guest!

The Los Altos History Museum and J. Gilbert Smith House are open free of admission Thursday through Sunday from noon-4pm and are located at 51 So. San Antonio Road, Los Altos, CA 94022 – next to the Los Altos main library. The gardens, outdoor agricultural exhibits and picnic area are accessible at all times.
