Temple Israel of Alameda Welcomes Community to High Holy Day Services

Alameda, CA -- Temple Israel of Alameda invites the community to join in the observance of the Jewish High Holy Days, a sacred season of reflection, renewal, and hope. Services are held at Temple Israel (3183 Mecartney Road, Alameda) and are free to attend either in-person or online; advance registration is required. Services will be led by Rabbi Zoe McCoon with beautiful music led by Soloist, Nathan Savant. Youth Services will be led by Dr. Jenn Levine, the Director of Education, and the Special Early Childhood Service will be led by Tot Shabbat Service Leader, Kellie Shoham.

~ Selichot Reception, Havdalah & Service: Saturday, September 13, beginning at 7:00 pm

~ Special Early Childhood Service: Saturday, September 20, at 10:30 am

~ Erev Rosh Hashanah Service: Monday, September 22, at 7:00 pm, followed by a Community Potluck Oneg

~ Rosh Hashanah Service: Tuesday, September 23, at 10:30 am, with Tashlich at the lagoon at 3:30 pm and the Youth Service at 4:00 pm

~ Kol Nidre Service: Wednesday, October 1, at 7:00 pm

~ Yom Kippur Morning Service: Thursday, October 2, at 10:30 am, followed by a Social Justice Presentation at 2:00 pm, a Study Circle with Rabbi Zoe McCoon at 3:00 pm, a Youth Service at 4:00 pm, Yizkor at 5:00 pm, Neilah at 6:00 pm, with Break-the-Fast following Neilah.

For all services, guests must be registered in advance and are encouraged to arrive at least 15 minutes before a service to allow time to find parking and check in at the welcome table.

Temple Israel, celebrating its 105th anniversary in 2025, is a Reform congregation serving Alameda and the surrounding East Bay communities, located at 3183 Mecartney Road. The temple fosters community, celebrates Judaism, promotes lifelong learning, and welcomes friends of all backgrounds who wish to connect with Jewish traditions, values, and community. Temple Israel is currently accepting enrollment applications for its school, B'nei Mitzvah Program, and Temple Teens Program. Membership applications are welcome throughout the year.
