Step out of the incessant noise of problem solving, to do lists, self-judgement and dissatisfaction into the world of being quiet. Silence is available within but often ignored. Sitting and walking together in noble silence we will reclaim the peace and ease that is our natural state.

This silent half-day retreat will consist of periods of sitting and walking meditation, as well instructions and opportunities to ask questions about the practice. It's suitable for all levels of meditation experience. This is a wonderful opportunity to get a taste of a longer practice period without leaving the City or step too far our of our busy lives.

Howard Cohn has practiced meditation since 1972, and has led vipassana retreats since 1985. Howard has studied with many Asian and western teachers of several traditions, including Theravada, Zen, Dzogchen and Advaita Vedanta, and has been strongly influenced by contact with the Indian master H.W.L. Poonja. He has done postgraduate work in East/West Psychology and has a private counseling practice.  He is the Guiding Teacher for Mission Dharma, which has been meeting weekly in the Mission for 33 years.

The sliding scale registration fee is $35 to $70.  Please pay the highest level that you can afford.  Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but it also is possible to register in person the morning of the event.
