The Hackaday Prize is now on to its third entry challenge, the Power Harvesting Module Challenge, and with that Hackaday is hosting a beginner solar workshop in San Francisco to teach anyone new to energy hacking enough to start their first solar project, and make an entry to the Prize if they wish! For this workshop we are pairing with the iconic Noisebridge hackerspace to bring you a workshop that is both technical and accessible.
The Beginner Solar Workshop will give a hands on approach to working with solar powers, along with the theory behind it. The theory will include how Solar cells convert light into electricity, when this technology is appropriate, and the safe handling of lithium ion batteries. By the end of the workshop you will have built a system that takes in solar energy and charges a lithium ion battery, which can be used in your future projects!
It is important to us that this event is accessible to everyone. The $20 suggestion donation is to cover the cost of components. If the $20 is beyond what you feel able to contribute, please email
[email protected] and we'll make sure you're included!
