Join Poppin and General Assembly for the second installment of our Fostering Growth + Innovation Series. During Habits of Disruptive Leaders, we'll talk with executives about unconventional management styles, employee expectations, and how they're planning to scale their startups in San Francisco.

Speakers:
Nikhil Basu Trivedi, Partner, Shasta Ventures

Having built products and companies as an entrepreneur in his teens, Nikhil now focuses on discovering, investing in, and mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs. As a partner at Shasta, he leads investments in consumer-oriented businesses. Nikhil also has a strong interest in industries that have yet to be transformed for the better by mobile and web technology, including healthcare, education, energy, and the life sciences. Nikhil is a board member/observer at Bloc, ClassDojo, frame.io, Hinge, Imperfect Produce, Tally, The Farmer’s Dog, and Wim, and led the firm’s investments in Color Genomics, Cover, and Second Measure. He has co-sponsored many of Shasta’s investments since joining the team in 2012. Nikhil was named in 2015 to Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 list for Venture Capital.
Born in the UK, Nikhil was raised in three countries on three continents. He discovered a love of entrepreneurship while a student at Princeton University. In 2008, during his sophomore year, Nikhil co-founded Artsy, an online platform for discovering and collecting art. Today, Artsy employs over 200 people and has raised over $50M in venture capital. Before joining Shasta, Nikhil was a member of the investment team at Insight Venture Partners in New York City.
Nikhil earned an A.B. in Molecular Biology with a certificate in finance from Princeton University, where he won the Spirit of Princeton award. He was co-president of the Princeton Entrepreneurship Club for two years, laying the foundation for a campus-wide entrepreneurial ecosystem. While growing up in England, Nikhil captained his school cricket team. He is an avid supporter of Manchester United, as well as Bay Area sports teams.

Cassie Divinie, Business Segment Leader, Quickbooks Self-Employed at Intuit

Cassie is the Business Segment Leader for Self-Employed, part of the Small Business and Self-Employed Group at Intuit. She leads a team focused on serving the global population of freelancers, independent contractors and businesses of one, with the goal to bring peace of mind and prosperity to the self-employed by helping them increase and keep more of their income, connect them to resources and benefits, and make taxes effortless and painless.
She is known for building teams and programs to drive business impact, as well as her creativity and hustle, and a very loud laugh. When she’s not at work, you might find Cassie in the felt section of the fabric store getting inspired for the next product line-up of her seasonal Etsy business.

Moderator: Andrew Whelan, Career Coach, General Assembly

Andrew Whelan is an accomplished career coach and small business owner. His background also includes performing at The Second City and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. His results-oriented, growth mindset approach to coaching has helped hundreds of graduates and freelancers achieve professional success. Andy is an engaging speaker and gives presentations and workshops on interview techniques, effective job seeking, developing possible career paths, and strategies for entering a career. He has recently presented at Adobe MAX, Draper U, and CreativeLive. 

Meghan Cochran, Director of Product, Hired 


Meghan is currently Senior Director of Product Management at Hired, where she helps people find a job they'll love. Prior to joining Hired, Meghan served at several companies breaking new ground in the digital world, including Sephora and Netflix. She specializes in marketplaces and subscription services with an emphasis on building scalable products with high customer satisfaction. 

Christine Tao, CEO, Sounding Board

Christine is the CEO & Co-founder of Sounding Board (www.soundingboardinc.com), a VC-backed startup innovating personalized, continuous leadership coaching in the $40B+ leadership & training industry. Prior to co-founding Sounding Board Christine was a Senior Vice President of Developer Relations at Tapjoy, a venture-backed, leading mobile advertising platform. She led the growth of Tapjoy’s network business from 0 to over $100 million in revenues in less than 3 years.  She has also advised several venture-backed startups including Flyby Media (acquired by Apple), Immersv & Comprendi. Prior to that she led e-commerce partnerships and strategy at YouTube. Christine holds an MBA in Marketing & Operations from Wharton and a BA in Business Administration from UC Berkeley.
