Identify native and invasive plants, learn about habitat restoration, and gain leadership skills at the Habitat Crew Leader Training with Sutro Stewards!
Crew leaders are essential to stewardship on Mount Sutro to help safely and effectively lead others on trail and habitat projects. We'll start with a classroom style session, go for a trail walk to see habitat restoration sites and identify plants, and then learn planting and weeding techniques to care for and improve habitat sites on Mount Sutro that increase biodiversity and provide wildlife habitat. At the end of the day, we'll break for lunch and refreshments as we join a volunteer crew at the end of their workday. This is a great opportunity for both newcomers and frequent volunteers.
Following the Habitat Crew Leader Training, we ask trainees to join us for at least eight events over the next year. There is no requirement to lead others, but we do ask that you come back and put your skills to practice! Trail & Habitat Stewardship events are every 1st & 3rd Saturday from 9:00am-1:00pm and Nursery & Habitat Stewardship events are every Wednesday from 9:30am-12:30pm.
Meeting location and event details sent to registered participants. Space is limited!
