A Wine Tasting from Julia’s Wine List
On Wednesday, May 11th, from 7 to 9pm, members of the Berkeley City Club and our guests will have an opportunity to taste up to ten wines from Julia’s wine list, served with a tasty and filling buffet of wine-friendly finger food.
You may have wondered about the wine on Julia’s list that you have not yet tried. A total of twenty wines will be available from which we may choose. Here’s how the tasting will work:
For $30 ($35 for guests) each attendee will be issued ten tickets at the door. There will be twenty wines available to choose from, and they will be “priced” at one or two tickets each, depending on their price on Julia’s wine list. Wines that cost less than $40 will cost one ticket. Those priced above $40 will cost two tickets. You decide how to spend your tickets. Would you like to try three of the premium wines? They will cost you six tickets. That leaves you with four more ticket with which to “buy” tastes of four less expensive wines. In other words, you may taste between five and ten wines, your choice. Each pour will be two ounces.
Caution: Depending on whether you choose to taste the most expensive of the wines (two tickets per pour) or the less expensive, you will be offered between ten and twenty ounces of wine. For reference, a bottle of wine contains around 24 ounces. Pace yourselves.
Tables for five or six people will be set up for eating, relaxing, and for informal discussion of the wines we are sampling.
The deadline for making reservations is Friday, May 6th at 12 noon.
