Grant Workshops for Artists Happy Hour Sessions: PR/Marketing Panel

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Building a social media and online presence can do more than improve your audience/fan base - it can help you introduce yourself (and your art!) to funders. Having a presence on social media along with well-written critiques of your work from news sources is important for artists and for funders who are considering supporting you. Join a panel of PR and marketing experts as they share tips and tricks that help improve your social media, online presence, and the importance of press from credible sources. The panel will include Helene Ellyce Vinson, Dasha Matsuura and Shayna Yasuhara.
About the Panelists
Helene Vinson has experience as an event planner, project manager, grant writer, brand consultant, and social media expert who knows the ins and outs of the arts world. Helene will share her tips and tricks to get your art and related art events the attention they need and deserve.
Dasha Matsuura is an Oakland-based curator. She is currently the director of Hashimoto Contemporary and Spoke Art. Since 2007, she has been an active member of the greater Bay Area arts community as a curator, corporate art consultant and has served on the board of various arts non-profit organizations.
Shayna Yasuhara brings both a writer and editor's perspective, as well as an arts background, to her public relations work. Shayna was previously the managing editor at SF Station, has worked in public relations for the non-profit arts organization Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, as well as for FutureArts, Boston's Contemporary Arts Festival. By combining these experiences she aims to bring a more community-centered approach to public relations. Tova and Melody will act as moderators and will ask questions about how to increase your social media presence and how to pitch a dynamic story to press outlets.
The Grant Workshops for Artists series is designed to help artists navigate the grants landscape and increase their likelihood of securing funding. We have designed these workshops with diverse artists from marginalized and underrepresented communities in mind. While all artists can benefit from participation in these workshops, they are most helpful for participants who are new to the grant world or have had limited experience with grants.
Take in valuable information, resources, and advice along as you unwind with a beverage of your choice.
Tova and Melody have decades of combined experience working within the arts community and the grants world and use their experience to help artists and art-focused nonprofit organizations find and secure funding. Combined, they have secured $4.6 million in grant funding.
Please email Melody or Tova to inquire into scholarship opportunities ([email protected] or [email protected]).
