Goodwill Donation Drive + Earth Day Happy Hour Celebration of Life!

SEE EVENT DETAILS
TGIF!!! This Friday is Earth Day! What better reason to celebrate life than by getting together for Happy Hour at Bar Basic and also make a positive impact on the planet and lives while you're at it! Better yet? We've found a simple way that we can also help the planet and our local community a bit together. Rain or shine! So grab the items that no longer spark joy to drop them off at Goodwill and then come enjoy a little bit of Happy Hour and meet folks who care about the Earth. We as a collective care a lot about meaningful living and innovation at Follow The Coin Labs and hope you'll come brainstorm some more solutions, projects and events like this one to organize. In Silicon Valley, there are probably more than a few social entrepreneurs working on solutions to help the Earth that might join us as well!EARTH DAY IS DONATE DAY // DONATE THAT STUFF YOU KONMARINetflix and Marie Kondo have gotten organizing everything in their lives from their homes, to their relationships and even board members. So why not take all those extra items you don't need or that doesn't spark joy anymore and donate them on your way over to Bar Basic? Bonus items for tech!HOW?There's a very accessible and easy Goodwill Donation Container Drop Off Center at 580 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA, which is literally a half a SoMa block down from Bar Basic. Someone will be there to help make the process easy and you can also work out your tax deductions for tax day. Here is a handy donation valuation guide: http://www.goodwill.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Donation_Valuation_Guide.pdfThey're open from 9AM to 9PM Friday. https://www.hours-locations.com/goodwill/ca/san-francisco/580-brannan-st/ WHY
It’s simple. When you donate your stuff to Goodwill®, you create opportunities for individuals in your community looking to find a job and build skills, including veterans and military families, single mothers and many others.
The Donate Movement website lets consumers see how much of an impact they can make on the planet by donating used goods: Last year, you helped local Goodwill organizations collectively place 288,000 people in employment in the United States and Canada. In addition, more than 38.6 million people used computers and mobile devices to access Goodwill education, training, mentoring and online learning services to strengthen their skills.
Your impact doesn’t end there — the planet also benefits when you choose to ditch the dumpster and drop your items at Goodwill. Over the past few years alone, you’ve helped keep billions of pounds of clothing and household items out of landfills.DID YOU KNOW?
Goodwill® Encourages Consumers to Harness the Environmental Power of Reusing GoodsThe environment has become an increasingly complex world of climate change, carbon offsets and emissions guidelines. While these big-picture issues can often seem far removed from everyday life, Goodwill Industries International encourages consumers to remember the widespread impact the simple act of donating goods can make.
In 2010, Goodwill launched the Donate Movement, a corporate social responsibility platform and public awareness movement that encourages consumers to think of donating used goods as just as essential to environmental responsibility as recycling paper and plastics. Via the Donate Movement microsite (donate.goodwill.org), users can calculate the social impact of their own clothing and household item donations through the patent-pending donation impact calculator, while a new feature on the site tracks how many pounds of usable goods Goodwill has diverted from landfills since January 2012 — currently totaling more than three billion.
