GLIDE Justice Movie Night: 13th Screening and Discussion on Prison Reform

GLIDE's new social justice film series launches with a screening of 13th. 

The critically acclaimed documentary film examines the through line of the mass incarceration of African Americans to a loophole in the 13th Amendment that eliminated slavery and involuntary servitude "except as a punishment for crime." Presented on Friday, April 15 at PianoFight by
GLIDE's Center for Social Justice and Legacy Committee, the film screening (Doors open at 6 p.m.) will be followed by a panel discussion with prison rights activists on ways to fight the prison industrial complex and steps underway to amend California's state constitution to
eliminate involuntary servitude for any reason. Justice Movie Nights are a new civic engagement initiative by the CSJ and Legacy Committee to help change public perceptions around poverty, discrimination, and civil and human rights.
