Glen Canyon Adopt-A-Crag

SEE EVENT DETAILS
As part of this year's Reel Rock Tour, some of the North Face's athletes will be joining the Bay Area Climber's Coalition for an adopt-a-crag in Glen Canyon Park.  This will be a great opportunity to work alongside some climbing legends while giving back to our local crags!
Projects
Although holding an event this late in the season makes some of our usual projects impractical, the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Dept. have identified a number of substantial projects that attendees will be taking on at the event:

Trail maintenance including box step repair, trail regrading, and closure of social trails
Brush management
Glass and trash clean-up

Where is Glen Canyon Park?
Glen Canyon Park is located in the Glen Park neighbourhood of San Francisco, 10 minutes pleasant walk from the Glen Park BART station. TheCrag.com provides a great overview and directions. The park is a popular spot on weekends so parking can be challenging - BART is recommended if possible.
We'll be meeting in the middle of the park, at the northern end of the dirt road that runs alongside Islais Creek, just across from the Silvertree camp / Glenridge pre-school building.
Logistics
Safety - We are HUGE on safety! There will be a safety talk at 10am on the day of the event. Please note that we require all participants to be present for the safety talk and to wear closed toe shoes. Unfortunately, we cannot allow anyone to participate who does not attend the safety talk and wear closed toe shoes.
Food - Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.  Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions - we will be providing Goat Hill Pizza, including dairy and gluten free options.
Water & bathrooms - Drinking fountains and bathrooms are available up near Christopher Playground and down at the Glen Park rec centre.  Both are 5 mins walk from the project areas, so to save time please bring a full water bottle and an empty bladder.
Tools - We will be getting tools and gloves from the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Dept, but feel free to bring your own work gloves if you prefer.
Clothing - Sturdy, closed toe shoes are mandatory.  Due to the late season timing of this event, rain is also a possibility and the event will go on regardless.  If the forecast looks like rain, please come prepared with lightweight rain gear that you can comfortably work in.

We are an inclusive community and welcome all people including LGBTQ+ and people of colour.
