Getting Healthy with a California Coastal Getaway

Located just 15 minutes south of San Francisco, the beautiful beach-front town of Pacifica is the perfect destination for getting healthy and fulfilling fitness resolutions for the new year.
Interested in burning up to 2,000 calories in two days? Here’s Pacifica’s recipe for setting your goals into action:
To warm up for the 2015 get healthy resolutions, take a leisurely walk along Rockaway Beach.
Then, head to Linda Mar Beach for a plunge in the surf (check out NorCal Surf Shop in Pedro Point for surfboard/wetsuit rentals and lessons)
In the afternoon, while the sun is setting, hike/walk the gentle path of the new Devils Slide Trail. Interpretive signage and stunning views of the Pacific are the focus.
Then, first thing the next morning, head out to the Pacifica Pier with fishing gear, crab trap, tackle and bait, which are all available for rent at Coastside Bait & Tackle. They also provide instruction about set-up needs to catch fish and crab (in season). As a public pier, a fishing license isn’t required.
After a heart-healthy breakfast at Salada Beach, Nick’s or Moonraker take a leisurely hike at Mori Point; power up and down some of the most intriguing mountain bike terrain in California; paddle board at Linda Mar Beach; and/or hit the links at the Alister MacKenzie-designed Sharp Park Golf Course.

Pacifica offers six lodging options in the budget to moderate price range and all are within walking distance to Pacifica’s beaches. Four are located at Rockaway Beach. The largest with 97 guest rooms is the Best Western Plus Lighthouse Hotel, a full-service hotel situated on Rockaway Beach with spacious accommodations, beautiful ocean views, a swimming pool and the upscale Moonraker restaurant.
