Gesture of Great Love

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Description

In this six-week course we continue our journey of compassion and self-care guided by Gesture of Great Love, the newest book by Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche. "Most people think the root cause of suffering is external," he writes. "But it seems to me that the cause of most of our suffering is the mind itself." This term we look directly at language and identity, two operations of mind that keep us spinning in circles, trapped in dis-ease. But, with wise eyes beginning to open, we see the mind's magic and a pathway to freedom appears. New students may join this term if they have read and practiced the exercises in the first 5 chapters of Gesture of Great Love.

Format

Classes meet online for six weeks, for one and a half hours a week. Classes are recorded and you will have access to the recordings for your personal use only. Each week, there will be a short lecture, experiential practices, and class discussion. An online chat room, and a free, additional half-hour practice session weekly will provide the optional ability to practice and dialog with your fellow students.

Weekly Topics

Week 1: More About Mind and Self

Week 2: The Role of Language

Week 3: Establishing Identity

Week 4: Seeing with Wise Eyes

Week 5: Mind Magic

Week 6: Offering Hugs and Kisses
