We are hosting an evening event for Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley (JFS SV) to raise awareness about their refugee resettlement program. JFS SV provides resettlement and acculturation services for refugee families and individuals across all religious/ethnic groups - including recent arrivals from Russia, Syria, Eretria and a large group of Iraqis and Afghanis who assisted US troops there.
JFS SV is also a lead plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s most recent travel ban, which blocks resettlement from 11 countries and indefinitely pauses the follow-to-join program which reunites spouses and children with refugees already in the United States.
We’d love if you could join us to hear Mindy Berkowitz, JFS SV Executive Director, for an update and a discussion about the 2018 refugee crisis:
How JFS SV helps hundreds of refugees, asylees and immigrants each year come to the US, find a safe haven, and build new lives here
Real-life stories of refugees’ courage and compassion
Status of JFS SV’s lawsuit over the Executive Order Travel Ban
