From The Bay to Bahia: A Hella Loco Journey to Brazil is the 2013 original performancce presented annually by Bay Area favorites, Loco Bloco. This years production - an artistic chronicle of their recent cultural exhange in Bahia, Brazil -re-connects participants and audiences to past, present and future visions of community expression and resistance rooted in the “Bloco Afro” philosophy and Mission district street arts. This summer,. 32 members of Loco Bloco spent time training and exchanging music and dance with instructors and artists from Olodum, Ilê Aiyê and Balê Folclôrico Da Bahia. This production expresses a commitment to our community, a way to share our experience and inspiration. It is a multimedia experience featuring original pieces built from the Afro-Brazilian dance and drum training and context Loco Bloco experienced during the exchange

· Original Afro-Brazilian Folkloric choreography from Nildinha Fonseca (Balê Folclôrico
Da Bahia)
· Original choreography from Tania Santiago
· Afro-Brazilian music and Bateria rhythms from Arayê (Olodum)
· Traditional Candomble songs
· Original Loco Bloco Bateria compositions and choreography which fuse Afro-Brazilian
rhythms and movements with Bay Area Hip Hop and House
· A full length Music Video to Loco Bloco’s original song “From the Bay to Bahia”
directed by Andrea Rodriguez
· Spoken word and dance theater highlighting impactful experiences from the trip
