Friends of the Urban Forest invites you to a walking tour led by Jason Dewees, horticulturist at Flora Grubb Gardens and author of Designing with Palms (Timber Press, 2018). Learn how the legendary live-work community Project Artaud in the Mission District developed San Francisco's best publicly-accessible collection of rare palms outside the Botanical Garden, and get the scoop on their plans for a big rainwater catchment system for irrigation and aquifer replenishment. From Artaud we will walk to In Chan Kaajal Park, one of SF's newest, surrounded by a set of unusual street trees planted by Friends of the Urban Forest around the turn of the millennium.
