Friday Nights at OMCA: Thriller Night

Get into the Halloween spirit with this special Thriller-themed edition of Friday Nights @ OMCA—with a tribute to the King of Pop alongside World Music Night—while you enjoy the best and biggest street market in the Bay this autumn with OMCA and Off the Grid! Costumes welcome. Enjoy half-price admission, live music and dancing, local art market in the Redwood Burl area, and extended OMCA Store hours. Don’t miss the final night for summer hours and additional food truck offerings.

This fall, experience Friday Nights @ OMCA like you’ve never seen it before inside our special exhibition, Nature’s Gift: Humans, Friends & the Unknown. Immerse yourself in the dazzling, colorful world created by artists FriendsWithYou, and enhance your experience with a cash bar, lounge, and pop-up store inside the gallery.

What to expect on October 27:

5–10 pm: Half-off gallery admission for adults, free for ages 18 and under
5–10 pm: All Museum galleries open late
5–10 pm: Gourmet food trucks from Off the Grid featuring the best in local cuisine: get the weekly list here
5–7:30 pm: Oakland Public Library’s bike-powered book-mobile sharing library resources in the California Room
5–9:45 pm: OMCA Store open with great artisan California-themed gifts, apparel, books, toys, and more
5–8 pm: Family-friendly drop-in activity: Make a glow-in-the-dark calavera mask inspired by Metamorphosis & Migration: Days of the Dead and Nature's Gift.
5–9 pm: New! Cash bar and lounge inside Nature’s Gift. Access included with special exhibition admission.
5–9 pm: New! Pop-up Store inside Nature’s Gift featuring exhibition-themed gifts and games to enhance your in-gallery experience. Access included with special exhibition admission.
5–9:30 pm: Local beer and wine specials in the Blue Oak beer garden
5–9 pm: Marketplace @ OMCA featuring local artists and vendors selling their wares in Redwood Burl area
5–6:30 pm: October resident DJ Mpenzi spinning world music? in the 10th Street Amphitheater
6–6:30 pm: Enjoy OMCA Family Storytime with the Oakland Public Library
6:30–8:30 pm: Bob and Lenny Show setting the mood in the Oak Street Plaza
7–8:45 pm: West African music and dance instruction with Bay Area-based performing arts group Afrique Sogue in the 10th Street Amphitheater
7:30–7:45 pm: A Snack-Sized Docent Tour, a fifteen-minute mini-tour led by a talented OMCA Docent to introduce you to one of the Galleries. Discover the surprise theme and meeting location of the night at the ticketing desk.
8:45 pm: Watch out for a special Halloween-themed surprise in the 10th Street Amphitheater!
