Bright Knights Chess Club host its 2nd Free Youth Chess Tournament for 2018

San Francisco National Chess Day - Youth Tournament@ SFPL Park Branch Library- Hosted by Bright Knights Chess ClubSat, Feb 10, 2018 | 12:30pm to 4:30pm

Free Event – there will be limited seating at this event. To guarantee your spot, you must register in advance, and arrive by 12:30pm to check-in on the day of the event.
Tournament is only open to youth, ages 5-18 years old.

TOURNAMENT SECTIONS


US Chess Federation Quick Rated – Open to all current US Chess Federation (USCF) members. USCF membership is required. To join USCF, please visit www.uschess.org. Clock time is Game in 20 (G/20).


Intermediate/Novice – Open to youths of all skill levels, no USCF membership required. A clock may or not be assigned at your table. Clock time is Game in 20 minutes; each player has 20 minutes per round on their chess clock if notating.


Beginner Section – For new chess players who just learned to play chess. No US Chess Federation Membership required



TOURNAMENT RULES AND STRUCTURE


Standard US Chess Federation Rules are followed


4 Non-Elimination Rounds – No player gets eliminated, all players will get to play all 4 rounds


Playoff – 5 minute speed chess playoff may be assigned in the event of a tie breaker



AWARDS & PRIZES


Trophies or Medals to the top players of each section


Chess Pins to all participants who complete all 4 rounds


US Chess Federation Membership to the top player in intermediate section who currently is not a member of the USCF
