“This two-day conference is ideal for faculty, staff and administrators from K–12 schools, as well as two- and four-year colleges and universities,†said Foothill College Vice President of Student Services Denise Swett, Ed.D. “With increasingly limited resources and high demands from students, faculty and staff, institutions are finding it difficult to provide effective support services. We want educators from our community to come explore a wide range of technology solutions that are focused on supporting student success, such as teaching and learning, learning analytics, mobile applications, MOOCs and professional development. There will also be a special strand on using technology for communicating about campus safety.â€
Learn firsthand how inventive technology-based solutions can reduce staff overload, engage students, support innovative instruction, promote career opportunities and supplement services impacted by budgetary reductions. Presenters will focus on how to utilize technology to improve student support and staff development, so that you can (try to) do more with less, Swett said.
In addition to a variety of workshop presentations, the conference will feature keynote addresses from LearnUp Co-Founder/CEO Alexis Ringwald, Stanford University Graduate School of Education Assistant Professor Candace Thiele, InternMatch Founder/CEO Andrew Maguire, Chegg Chief Technology Officer Chuck Geiger and Khan Academy’s Elizabeth Slavitt.
Numerous workshops will also be presented, including online learning and content providers, online tutoring and study aid services, multimedia services, student career and internship services, financial aid and education financing, campus solutions, and professional development. Popular workshops will spotlight using a flipped classroom; leveraging analytics; building mobile apps for higher education; increasing online student retention; using smartens; and understanding Ellucian solutions for the Student Success Act in California
The conference is underwritten by sponsors and exhibitors, and does not utilize any college or public funds.
Parking lots 1, 7 and 8 provide best access to the theatre. There is no parking fee for conference registrants. Foothill College is located off I-280 on El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills. For the conference schedule or more information, access
