Sept 1-9; Saturdays, Sundays, & Labor Day Monday at 2pm
For their 36th season of Free Shakespeare in the Park, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is proud to present 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
After producing 'Hamlet' in 2017 to celebrate our 35th Anniversary Season, the company turns to funnier fare with one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies. Audiences of all ages will be delighted by this family-friendly production.
'A Midsummer Night's Dream' follows the misadventures of four young lovers, a group of aspiring actors, and a team of mischievous fairies as they meet in the woods outside of Athens on a summer night. The ensuing hilarity and chaos create an afternoon filled with love and laughter.
Audiences can further their enjoyment of this production and learn more about 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by attending a 15-minute Green Show, 'Flower Rangers, at 1:30 pm. This fun and informative presentation also provides a synopsis and background information that will be enjoyed by all.
See the show described by the SF Chronicle's Lily Janiak as one that "might well inspire many a belief in fairies or rekindle one for those who have lost it." No tickets or reservations are needed for these complimentary shows. Bring your family and friends, a blanket, and a picnic to enjoy professional theater at no charge in a beautiful park setting.
"Since its start in 1983 Free Shakespeare in the Park has become a highly anticipated summer tradition in San Francisco," says Toby Leavitt, Executive Director of San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. "We look forward to greeting newcomers as well as fans who've been attending throughout the years."
