July 21-Aug 5, 2018, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 7:00 pm
The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival is proud to present our 2018 Free Shakespeare in the Park production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
After producing 'Hamlet' in 2017 to celebrate our 35th Anniversary Season, the company turns to funnier fare with one of Shakespeare's most beloved comedies. Free Shakespeare in the Park will have an earlier start time of 7:00 pm for its evening performances this year, making it easier for families with younger children to enjoy this family-friendly production. Also new this year is the addition of two Thursday performances (July 26 & Aug 2) to accommodate audience demand.
'A Midsummer Night's Dream' follows the misadventures of four young lovers, a group of aspiring actors, and a team of mischievous fairies as they meet in the woods outside of Athens on a summer night. The ensuing hilarity and chaos create an evening filled with love and laughter.
Audiences can further their enjoyment of this production and learn more about 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by attending a 15-minute Green Show, 30 minutes before the performance. This fun and informative presentation also provides an opportunity for kids to get onstage with the actors!
No tickets or reservations are needed for these complimentary performances. Bring your family and friends, a blanket, and a picnic to enjoy professional theater at no charge in a beautiful park setting!
"Free Shakespeare in the Park has become a highly anticipated summer tradition in Cupertino," says Toby Leavitt, Executive Director of San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. "We look forward to greeting newcomers as well as long-time fans in the park."
