Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is proud to bring you its Free Movies on the Beach series, where the whole family is invited to bring blankets and low back chairs for a classic movie on the shoreline.
For this installment, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk presents a screening of the film, Chasing Mavericks. Starring Gerard Butler, Jonny Weston, and Elisabeth Shue, the film tells the inspirational true story of real life surfing phenomenon Jay Moriarity, who discovers that the mythic Mavericks surf break, one of the biggest waves on Earth, is not only real, but exists just miles from his Santa Cruz home. He enlists the help of local legend Frosty Hesson to train him to survive it, and the two set out on a mission to achieve the impossible.
