Local community legal services organizations host a FREE Citizenship Application Assistance workshop for eligible residents of the East Bay. Meet with a qualified volunteer attorney or BIA accredited representative to find out if you are eligible to apply for citizenship. If eligible, we will assist you with completing the 21-page N-400 Citizenship Application. You may be eligible for a waiver of the immigration application fee if your income is low or you receive a public benefit like CalWorks, Medi-Cal, FoodStamps, etc. If you are eligible and prepared with all your documents, you will leave the workshop with an application ready to file!!!

To receive assistance at the workshop, you must bring all of the following:
1. $680 check or money order, payable to “Department of Homeland Security” (if 75 years or older, only $595). If you qualify for the application fee waiver YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY to the Immigration Service. You have to bring documents proving that your household income is low, like pay stubs, income taxes and/or proof that you or a relevant household member receive public benefits like SSI, IHSS, Medi-Cal, food stamps/ CalFresh, WIC, CalWorks, Cash Assistance, etc.
2. 2 Copies of your green card (front and back).
3. 2 photos (Passport style – 2 in X 2 in).
4. List of all your trips out of the United States including departure and return dates.
5. List of addresses and employment and/or schools for the past five years including start and end dates.
6. If you are currently married; spouse’s full legal name, date of birth, Social Security number, alien number (A#), date and place of naturalization, and current address.
7. Information about all your prior marriages and about all of your current spouse’s prior marriages; including date of marriage, date the marriage ended, and how marriage ended.
8. If you have children, their full name, dates of birth, residency card A#, and address.
9. Documentation of all arrests and/or convictions, including reason for the arrest, date, place, and outcome/disposition. Bring ALL arrest and court documents, even if the charges were dropped.
