During the Bay Area Dance Week and on Earth Day, Presidio Dance Theatre and The City Waves present FREE 5Rhythms Community Dance Workshop on Saturday, April 22. Come dance with Alessandro Moruzzi and Vehllia Tranne in celebration of joy and freedom. Dancing the 5Rhythms is a practice—a dynamic way to both workout and to meditate in the same breath. They teach us that life is energy in motion, freeing us from any fixed notions about people, places, objects or ideas. We dance to an eclectic blend of world music, soul, classics, rock, electronica and other music until the dancer disappears and only the dance remains. The 5Rhythms – Flowing Staccato Chaos Lyrical Stillness® – are states of Being. They are a map to everywhere we want to go, on all planes of consciousness – inner and outer, forward and back, physical, emotional and intellectual. They are markers on the way back to a real self, a vulnerable, wild passionate, instinctive self. Everybody's welcomed! No experience necessary. We dance barefoot or dance shoes only. Please come ready to sweat, bring your curiosity, a water bottle and your friends. Wheelchair accessible. Please plan to arrive on time. Location: Presidio Dance Theater 386 Moraga Ave (at Arguello Blvd) Presidio, San Francisco, CA 94129 Directions: From Presidio Blvd, turn left on Funston Ave, right on Moraga Ave. The studio is located at the corner of Moraga Ave and Arguello Blvd, across the street from Presidio Crissy Field main post. Parking: Convenience fee parking at entrance to the studio. Credit card and coins are accepted. Parking fee is enforced DAILY 8am-6pm in Presidio. Public Transportation: San Francisco Municipal Railway (MUNI) buses serve the Presidio via the 28 (to Golden Gate Plaza), 29 (from Sunset to Baker Beach), and 43 (to Letterman area) lines and other lines terminate near the Presidio's Lombard Gate.
