Foothill College hosts its third annual Learning Curve Bike Circuit Race, at which some 400 cyclists are expected to peddle around the 1.09-mile campus loop road, Sunday, July 14, in Los Altos Hills. Event registration begins at 7:15 a.m. and the first race begins at 8 a.m. Registration, race route, fees ($15-$35) and specific race start times are posted online at http://foothillcollegecircuitrace.com/.
The Learning Curve Bike Race is a fundraiser and proceeds will be used to build a pedestrian/bike path from El Monte Road to the pedestrian bridge that creates safer access for students and the community.
Foothill College is teaming up with the Los Gatos Bicycle Racing Club to present the race. Held under USAC rules, the Foothill College Learning Curve Circuit Race categories include juniors, elite men, elite women and masters. Participants must present a current USA Cycling License at registration. A one-day or annual license may be purchased during online registration as well as on race day. There are no refunds.
Volunteers are needed to help with same-day race preparations, including registration and serving as racecourse safety marshals.
Foothill’s Learning Curve Race is a member of NCNCA 2013 Women’s Race Series, NCNCA Junior Points Series and USA Cycling Road Development Race Series.
