Celebrate Self Love this Valentine's Weekend at the FGC Fundraiser Gala: GALATINE
“Ditch the dates and forget Valentine’s Day” we all say come mid February - but why miss the opportunity to step out, dress your finest, and celebrate self love instead? It is a beautiful journey navigating our way toward well-being and happiness - some of us are still trying to find our way - and some of us just need a reminder from time to time. Regardless, we believe self love is essential as a priority in our lives, especially if we want to help others. On Valentine’s Weekend, we celebrate how far we’ve made it in our individual journeys and remind each other that it is the very foundation in order to love others.

Whatever self love means to you, we are hoping to have your presence with us as we work toward our goal to share love to those who need a little bit more for themselves. Help us kick off our mission and goals for an evening at TAYLOR/MONROE that will be transformed into an elegant and intimate gala for your dose of love and XOXO’s. Bay Area writer and YouTuber, Kae Roque, will be sharing what self love means to her and how she uses her platform to encourage creative self expression and empower women. Once she has gotten us sufficiently inspired, enjoy the night in selfie central, hearts, roses, and all, along with good vibes and music as we celebrate and toast to thy self.

Our Goals
With your support, we hope to raise $4000 as we expand our organization and develop our two big projects for 2019:
2nd Annual Back to School Donation Drive

Our main project of the year is our 2nd Annual Back to School Donation Drive this Summer. Last Labor Day weekend, we rounded up over 40 donors who cleared their closets of gently worn clothing to donate to under-resourced teenage girls. We invited high school students in Oakland to shop from the donations with personal stylists and had manicures and makeup done by local artists. This was just the starting point for FLYGURLZCLUB and this year, we plan to make it an annual event to get our community together and help those who don’t have the same resources to clothing for the school year.

We believe in helping the youth, no matter their identity, with the goal to help them feel good, look good, and walk with confidence. That is why this year and onward, we are expanding our school drive to include boys. To enhance the experience for our participating students in our our next school drive, we project to include:

Haircuts in provided by local stylists and barbers

Transportation for more students to participate (a huge factor that played into last year’s drive that didn’t allow a number of students to attend)

School supplies & essentials

We can do so much with your support, no matter how small, to keep improving our yearly Back to School Donation Drive and impact more students in need. By planning early in the year, we can prepare logistics, materials, and round up the partnerships we need to accomplish another successful event.

Guest Speakers & Interviewing Professional Women

In partnership with professional women in the Bay Area, we will host a workshop to assist in resume/career preparation and tips on how to dress for interviews. To make a direct impact on the youth, we look forward to visiting schools by the end of school year for students to interview and learn about career experiences first hand by professional women in our network.

Kae Roque is a 26 year old, Dominican-American, Creative Writer and Youtuber from the Bay Area. She has been writing short stories, poems, skits, and play scripts since she relocated to California as a kid. In her early years, Kae was especially influenced by her exposure to the commercials that her mother, who is a Creative Director, would write and produce. With roots tying back to New York City, Kae has been able to take her influences from both coasts to create her own unique style. In January of 2018, Kae started her YouTube journey with one goal in mind: to break down taboo topics with a comedic spin on her own experiences. From modeling, voice over acting, writing, community service and mentoring, Kae has acquired skills that have allowed her to be the well-rounded artist and performer that she is today.

ABOUT FLYGURLZCLUB
Our goal is to gather women to share their motivation and inspiration they find in beauty and fashion to help younger under-resourced girls gain the confidence they need to celebrate and express themselves freely just as much.
We believe, as young women, that we have much more influence beyond social media and aim to tap into real world connections with young girls to create greater impact in ways that were not available to us when transitioning into adulthood. We want to provide young girls with a community built on support and sisterhood where they can embrace their individuality and strut their beauty and brains.
