First Thursday Big Taste: Sake and “Lucky Chow”

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us as we explore the rich intersection of art, culture, food and spirits. To open the night, Museum docent Kirsten Shilakes will discuss a flight of three sakes (available for purchase), each of which has been paired with an artwork featured in the exhibition Seduction: Japan’s Floating World. The evening continues with an advance screening of “Lucky Chow,” a new PBS television series produced by the Center for Asian American Media.

“Lucky Chow” follows LUCKYRICE culinary festival founder Danielle Chang as she travels across America exploring the Asian food landscape. The series features many of the country’s most renowned chefs and culinary stars, such as Top Chef winner Kristen Kish, YouTube sensation Maangchi, and Bay Area favorite Ramen Shop. Join Danielle Chang and special guests after the screening for a conversation and audience Q&A.

With drinks, music, and lively conversation, it’s the perfect night to tour Seduction: Japan’s Floating World and The Printer’s Eye one last time before the exhibitions close on May 10.

Schedule
6:45–7:15 PM: Sake presentation and tasting

7:15–9 PM: Screening of “Lucky Chow” and conversation with series host Danielle Chang and special guests
