First Nations Comedy: Pete Lee, Taietsarón:sere "Tai” Leclaire, and Jim Ruel

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Join us for an evening of standup that centers indigenous voices and multiple perspectives of Native American experience. Headlining is late-night host Jimmy Fallon favorite Pete Lee, who pokes fun at his Midwestern roots but also grew up spending time with his great grandmother on the Cherokee Nation reservation in Oklahoma. He has a special on Showtime. But he is most proud of doing a standup comedy special on FNX (First Nations Experience), the television network dedicated to Native American programming. "Taietsarón:sere "Tai" Leclaire, a Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) and Mi'kmaq actor, comedian, and writer creates hilarious, quirky characters. He got his start at Upright Citizen's Brigade Theater New York and is a writer and actor on the television show "Rutherford Falls," the comedy on Peacock that skewers identity politics around land and history in a small, clueless town. Hosting the show is Stanford Alum Jim Ruel. Creator of Frybread Productions, a Native-owned video production company, Ruel works in film and media and hosts the "Hollywood NDNz" podcast, highlighting the careers of Native American professionals in entertainment.

We are thrilled to present this showcase of very funny comedians who to varying degrees connect to and mine their indigenous identity, but most of all remind us that laughter is truly the best medicine.
