Finding Your Purpose: Community & Discussion

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Finding your purpose in work (and life) can be a lonely process, but it doesn't have to be.
The idea behind this group is to provide a community for conversation and exploration, a space to ask the difficult questions and to inspire and encourage each other. The first event will look something like this:

Introductions - Where are you now, where do you want to be & what's getting in your way? (Don't worry if you don't have the answers to any of these)

Ways of thinking about purpose - Some food for thought to structure your thinking.

Discussions - either all together or in smaller groups if there are lots of us. Each event will have a focus topic, with room to explore questions that are important to you right now.

Plans for action - one small step that you will take before the next event.

About the organiser:
My own journey to find purposeful work has taken me from Psychology to Existentialism and from not-for-profits to freelancing. In the process I've read widely on meaning and purpose, on designing your life (and work) and on living differently. Last autumn I started interviewing people about purpose - how they've found it, wrestled with it, and sometimes found peace in the process. So far I've interviewed: a Philosopher, an entrepreneur, a yogi, a very modern Buddhist monk, a blind adventurer, and many others. I'm on a mission to interview 100 people by the end of 2018 and I'll be sharing the stories as I go. I'm no an expert, and I'm not a coach, but I do understand what it's like to feel lost and directionless. I know that meaningful conversations with like-minded souls have made the biggest difference in my own search for purpose, and that is what this group is here for.Emily Shipp, Founder of Questions on Purpose.• What to bringAn open mind, some money for a drink, and maybe a notebook. This first event will be casual, so come along and join in the conversation!• Important to knowWe'll be at Hotel Biron from, which is a cosy wine bar near Market & Gough. Come from 6.30pm.
