On Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 7:30 PM, at Room 12 of the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Avenue, Los Altos, the De Anza Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society will feature a program by Robert Weissman, a longtime member of the chapter, on Drought Tolerant Plants. During the program, one will learn how plants have evolved and adapted to survive in low water environments, how some plants minimize the amount of water they need to live, and once established require little or no supplemental summer water and provide food and shelter for beneficial insects, butterflies and birds. Robert Weissman will mention low water consuming California natives and Mediterranean climate plants that can be used to create a low water use natural garden, and give important tips on how to maintain your landscape during periods of drought.
