Final Weekend! AfroSolo Performances of Train Stories June 9 & 10 @ 7 PM at Potrero Stage Theatre

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The final performances of the 29th Annual AfroSolo Arts Festival Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10 @ 7 PM feature "Train Stories," an original play by Wayne Harris. A passionate storyteller, Wayne delivers a runaway locomotive of a play that pulses with the stories of three men who give their chilling individual accounts of a particular event in the Spring of 1948. The play speaks to the complicated connection African-Americans have as a result of slavery and legislation. It poses the question: How do Black men find their place in America, with all of its challenges, while maintaining their dignity and pride.

One of the issues explored in the play is human sex trafficking. An interactive panel discussion exploring the emotional trauma of human trafficking will take place after the show.

The panel will feature Ms. Carletta Jackson-Lane, JD, a champion for children who have suffered physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Jackson-Lane is a leading voice in the San Francisco Bay Area anti-human trafficking community. She is also on a mission to educate the public that there is no such thing as a "child prostitute." Instead, such a child is a victim of abuse and commercial sexual exploitation. Please join us for this timely and informative discussion.

Live In-Person at Potrero Stage Theatre at 1695 18th Street in San Francisco and Live-Streamed.

ADMISSION FREE. Must register for Live-Streaming.
