Featured Speakers
Jessica McKellar
Jessica McKellar is a founder and the CTO of Pilot, a bookkeeping firm powered by software. Previously, she was a founder and the VP of Engineering for a real-time collaboration startup acquired by Dropbox, where she then served as a Director of Engineering. Before that, she was a computer nerd at MIT who joined her friends at Ksplice, a company building a service for rebootless kernel updates on Linux that was acquired by Oracle. Jessica is also a former Director for the Python Software Foundation and PyCon North America's Diversity Outreach Chair. For her outreach efforts in the Python community, she was awarded the O'Reilly Open Source Award in 2013. Fun fact: Jessica is a technical advisor to the HBO show Silicon Valley.
Alyson Friedensohn
Alyson Friedensohn is a co-founder and CEO at Modern Health, a platform which aims to improve employee well-being and retention rates. A graduate of Y-Combinator, the company just closed a $2.26 million seed round. She was previously operations manager at employee engagement and benefits management platform Keas which was acquired by Welltok. She also oversaw product partner operations at Collective Health, a startup which gives companies a smarter way to provide healthcare coverage through technology.
Kavi Bailey
Kavi Bailey is the founder of Grand Paradé Coffee, a purveyor of premium and sustainably-grown coffees. Kavi’s approach to sourcing coffee is focused on uncompromising quality. Her story begins in Kenya on the coffee plantations where she spent her summers. She discovered that elevation degree, varietal choice, soil type and processing methods all intersect and influence a coffee's flavor complexity and intensity. Prior to running her own coffee company, Kavi worked as a senior investment manager at Charles Schwab Investment Advisory. She has also worked as an investment professional for Westcott Financial Advisory Group and Capital Analysts.
