June 20-21, 2015 - Sat 8pm & Sun 2pm
The performers in this uplifting show - Fallen Heroes, Rising Stars: A Juneteenth Celebration Through Dance - are retired dancers in their 40s and 50s from the Grown Women Dance Collective. "All-stars of the dance world come together each June for this concert, to create the perfect combination of performing arts & education. Our performance honors Juneteenth, an important homage to the end of slavery in the US, and we pay tribute to African-American music artists who we have recently lost, but who will continue to inspire us for generations to come," says Tonya Marie Amos, Artistic Director for GWDC. "This is a fun, inspiring and family-friendly evening of dance, music & American history."
