Join internationally acclaimed baritone Lucia Lucas for Expansive 2025 - a vibrant showcase of transgender and non-binary classical artists presented byThe Transgender District and Opera Parallèle, returning for its fourth year as a centerpiece celebration of California's groundbreaking Transgender History Month every August.
Expanding this year to the A.C.T.'s iconic Toni Rembe Theater, this dynamic event continues to uplift gender-expansive voices in classical music and performance. Lucas, a trailblazer in the field, made history as the first transgender person to perform a principal role on an American operatic stage and has since starred at major houses including the Metropolitan Opera, English National Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and Deutsche Oper Berlin. A multidisciplinary artist and passionate advocate for trans representation in the arts, she will be joined by pianist Taylor Chan and a stellar lineup of local guest performers to be announced.
