EVOLUTION OF TEACHING: Inversions with Victoria Austin and with Brian Hogencamp

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Saturday, May 11, 2019, 2-5 pm
INVERSIONS are magnificent daily practices for both teachers and seasoned students. Correct practice of inverted poses provides unique modes of development for physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual well-being. Yet teaching inversions poses unique challenges and risks, requiring skillful training and practice:

How do we inspire our students by example, instruction, by voice and by gaze, to embody the actions that support active contemplation?
How do we support our students who have physical challenges with inversions?
How do we adjust a student who is studying the self upside down?

THIS WORKSHOP focuses on participants' refinement in three developmental skills:

Practice and presentation of Dr. Geeta Iyengar's sequence of learning inversions
Modifications for common issues
Pathways to deepen the practice of inverted poses, in oneself and in one's students
CIYTs and candidates preparing for assessment are invited to register; you will be joined by beginning teachers in the current Art of Teaching Program. Participants will practice teaching and giving feedback, cultivating direct experience of instruction, observation and correction to evolve our transmission of Viparita Sthiti.

Pricing: $75
