Our September 17th Meetup will focus on a topic we do not usually talk much about: Estate Planning.

Mrs. Christina Gorokhovsky, an expert in the field, will walk us through the basics of this non-trivial subject.

On this talk, Mrs. Gorokhovsky will discuss the following:

1. What is Estate Planning and Why it Matters to investors
a). Control, Protect, Minimize Costs
b). New Tax Laws - so what?
i. Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
ii. SECURE Act

2. Common Questions
a). What if I do nothing?
b). Is probate actually a bad thing?
c). What Are Trusts? Revocable v. Irrevocable?

3. People First, Then Money, Then Things
a). Ourselves!
b). Our Spouse & Kids
c). Guard the Nest

4. Other important considerations
a). Authority to make decisions for you - Who, what, when, where, how?
b). Directives

5. What's next?

Biography
-----------------
Christina Gorokhovsky is an attorney in the South Bay. She has a degree in accounting from the University of San Diego and a law degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder. In 2004, she joined the California State Bar and is currently a member of the Tax Law and Trust & Estates sections of the California Lawyer's Association. Other memberships include the Silicon Valley and Santa Clara County Bar Associations and WealthCounsel, a national organization dedicated to excellence in the estate planning profession. Through solid, comprehensive planning, she helps families reach their legacy goals, during their lifetime and beyond. She speaks to groups locally and throughout the Bay Area about the latest legal developments and how to maximize wealth, stay out of court and secure family relationships.
